If you’ve been following Notable Visuals for a while, you may have seen our Ref Magnet Wedding Souvenirs. They’re one of the products we’ve been making for years, and honestly, I still find it amazing how this simple little souvenir became one of our best sellers.
But what many people may not know is that this product started during the pandemic.
And it actually started with a very simple question:
“What can I create that is affordable, useful, and something people would actually want?”
It All Started During the Pandemic
When the pandemic happened, like many small business owners, I started thinking about what I could create from home.
I already loved designing, so I wanted to create something where I could use my design skills while also offering something practical and affordable.
I didn’t want to create something just because it looked nice.
I wanted it to be something that people could actually use.
That’s when I started thinking about ref magnets.
They’re simple, useful, and something you can keep on your refrigerator where you can see them every day.
At first, I started creating different quote designs for the magnets.
I experimented with layouts, typography, colors, and different messages. I enjoyed the process because it allowed me to combine something practical with the kind of design work I really loved doing.
Then I started posting them in Facebook groups.
At that time, I didn’t know yet that this small product would eventually become one of the most requested souvenirs at Notable Visuals.
Then One Facebook Post Changed Everything
I remember seeing a post from a bride who was looking for wedding souvenirs.
Like many sellers in Facebook groups, there were already a lot of people commenting and offering different products.
There were so many options.
I decided to offer our quote ref magnets.
I wasn’t expecting anything big from it. I simply thought, Why not? Maybe she’ll like them.
And surprisingly, she chose Notable Visuals.
But then she asked something that completely changed the direction of our ref magnets.
She wanted to have their couple photo printed on the magnet.
And I thought…
Why not make it personalized?
That was the beginning.
From Quote Magnets to Personalized Wedding Souvenirs
Instead of making only quote designs, I started creating ref magnets featuring the couple’s own photos.
And I loved the idea.
A wedding souvenir doesn’t always have to be something complicated or expensive.
Sometimes, a simple little item becomes more meaningful when you personalize it.
Instead of guests taking home a generic souvenir, they could take home something featuring the couple’s photo, wedding date, names, or a design that matched their wedding.
And because it’s a refrigerator magnet, it’s also something guests can actually use.
That’s what I wanted Notable Visuals to create:
Affordable wedding souvenirs that are beautiful, personal, and useful.
And Then the Orders Started Coming In
From that one bride, more couples started asking about personalized ref magnets.
We began creating different layouts and designs to suit different weddings.
Some couples wanted elegant and minimalist designs.
Some preferred something colorful and fun.
Others wanted their engagement or prenup photos featured.
And little by little, our collection grew.
What started as a few quote designs became a whole collection of personalized wedding souvenir designs.
Today, our Ref Magnet Souvenirs have become one of the products I’m most grateful for.
We’ve created magnets for so many weddings and celebrations, and we’ve seen how something as simple as a small refrigerator magnet can become a meaningful keepsake for guests.
Why I Think Ref Magnets Became So Popular
I think one of the reasons couples love them is because they check three important boxes:
They’re affordable.
You don’t have to spend a huge amount on wedding souvenirs.
They’re useful.
Guests can actually use them at home instead of keeping them in a drawer.
They’re personal.
You can feature your favorite couple photo and wedding details, making the souvenir uniquely yours.
And for me as a designer, I love that every order gives me an opportunity to create something different.
Every couple has their own photos, colors, personalities, and wedding theme.
So even though we’re creating the same type of product, every magnet can still feel special.
From One Small Idea to Thousands of Wedding Souvenirs
Looking back, it’s funny to think that this all started during a time when nobody really knew what was going to happen next.
I was simply trying to think of a product that was:
Affordable. Useful. Beautiful. And something I could design myself.
I never imagined that a simple Facebook post and one bride’s request to add their couple photo would eventually lead to thousands of personalized souvenirs created for weddings and celebrations.
It reminds me that sometimes, you don’t need to start with a big business idea.
Sometimes, you just need to create something you believe people will find useful, put it out there, and listen to what your customers want.
That’s exactly what happened with our Ref Magnet Souvenirs.
And I’m so grateful that so many couples trusted Notable Visuals to be part of their special day.
